Sorry for the delayed temperature update for May, as I’ve been in Alameda, CA on family business. I’ll post the update when I get to work on Monday, June 8.
But in the meantime, check out the time lapse video I did of the full moon rising over San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, as the lights come up in the city. Best viewed full-screen, since there are a lot of things happening:
You have been missed. We all hope everything is fine with you and yours.
I’m an old San Francisco boy trapped in Illinois and I really appreciate that lovely video. Not quite the same as a temp report but, boy, it will sure do in a pinch!
Thanks Dr. S
It would be interesting to see the Northern and Southern Hemisphere averages broken out. Most of the warming is occurring in the north and the Arctic. The global average somewhat masks what’s going on, doesn’t it?
“…interesting to see…”
It is all in the associated text files.
Yes it is, but it doesn’t make the headline does it? More like buried in the fine print.
The warming in the Arctic is shocking, but all the attention is to the global average.
way cool
Are the rapind moving lights in the sky jets taking off and landing?
Yes, oakland airport
Hope you enjoyed your visit to our fair city!
Alameda resident since 1973.
Wow, that’s stunning. Thanks.
Good to see you back.
Listened to your song. Great sounding recording. Guitars sound superb.
Thanks. I used a single SM57 mic overhead into a Zoom then into my Sony Handycam. Used a small PA for the guitars so they would be picked up by the mic better. Tom wrote that song when we were in high school.
Been to that overlook in Marin many a time. Cool video.
Thanks for the beautiful video, Dr. Spencer.
See you on Monday.
When I used to check HADCRUT back in 2007, I worked out that there was a correlation between how much the month cooled and how much it was delayed. I suspect it was about 0.1/week.
If this is a universal law (joke) based on this correlation …
Very cool.
That place is polluted with lightning bugs! 😉
Okay Dr Roy any hints?
I’m trying to work out if you are deliberately holding back due to the ‘pause’ rubbish going on at the moment. Or is it purely that you haven’t had the time or are you holding back the May figures?
If I were a betting man , id say you know the May figures and they show an upward trend-not that I want that; but you want the AGW’s to sizzle a tad longer.
RSS May figure for Global Lower Troposphere anomalies has been out for days. I already reported it in this blog.
Highest anomaly in last 34 years:
April 1998 + 0.8573
Recent:
January 2015 + 0.3670
February + 0.3270
March + 0.2546
April + 0.1748
May + 0.3103
I suspect UAH May temps will be well up.
The ongoing El Niño may have something to do with it….
Dr. Spencer, what particular tool did you use to get the time lapse? Neat vid.
