A recent story entitled END OF DAYS Mystery as sky turns black in the middle of DAY in remote Russian towns with locals blaming secret weapons test, aliens or the DEVIL was meteorologically interesting as it described a region in northern Siberia that went almost dark for several hours last Friday, July 20, as seen in this Siberian Times photo:
Since we have several polar orbiting satellites that see everywhere on Earth a few times a day, it was natural to check out this event using NASA’s WorldView website. Here’s the VIIRS image from NASA’s Suomi/NPP satellite from around mid-day on July 20, 2018:

Persistent wildfires, marked by the red dots, had been burning for days in central Siberia, which were producing smoke plumes travelling northeastward. A cool frontal system with clouds apparently entrained this smoke, and the combination made for extremely dark conditions on the ground. It is now known that wildfire smoke can enhance liquid cloud formation, and so a “perfect storm” of conditions resulted: (1) a natural cloud system, (2) enhanced cloud formation from smoke aerosols, and (3) the smoke layer itself (brown in the above color imagery).
This led to an almost opaque blanket that prevented sunlight from reaching the surface.
Whether UFOs or the devil were also involved, one can only speculate.

CO2 blocks IR in certain bands, so emission to space occurs at reduced intensity from layers that are higher and colder than the surface.
So you see the percentage is completely irrelevant, only the blocking ability matters.

Well I find your Feldman paper very convincing, even showing W/m^2 varying with the seasonal CO2 variation.
Skeptics say it’s measured from the ground, locally, less than broadband. I know the first objection is wrong, but people think that energy will spurt out elsewhere when we aren’t looking.
Your GISS spectrum image is modeled, I found others measured from space but they were pretty old.

That is pretty stupid reasoning for a claim about wildfires. The number and size is fairly random scatter. The fire records using their statistics go back to the 90s. Other data goes back to the 30s. Maybe if you used all that data, you could make some authoritive statement. Now it just looks like you are a schoolkid trying to back down after being caught out.

Besides, many of the records are fabrications produced by the likes of NOAA and GISS. They do it by lowering the confidence levels as low as 48% (38% in the case of GISS).
Why not question your authority figures as to why they need to cheat in order to produce records that the satellite records don’t see?

There have been a lot of wildfires but there have always been lots of wildfires. There is nothing exceptional or unprecedented about this year’s fires, except in the minds of fevered newspaper journalists and their naïve acolytes.
What has made fires worse over the last twenty years is the suppression of natural fires, especially in places like Western North America or Australia. The instigation for this was “green” policies. This has massively increased the fire load so those fires are man-made disasters. That isn’t my opinion, it is the written papers by ecologists and forest managers. But that is just another inconvenient truth.

Deliberate fires are lit because they aren’t allowed controlled burnoffs and the landowners want to either develop or crop the land which the green policies do not allow them to do.

At the moment, I don’t think private companies should play a major role in space exploration.
You could go that way, but it would require changing laws that would allow profit to be made due to private exploration. That would difficult politically, and could cause big problems.
And we spent 20 billion dollar per year on NASA, and that is NASA’s job- and problem should be focused on getting NASA to actually do important space exploration. And the yield from the space exploration, will be a gift to humankind. Or the discoveries should available in the public domain [with private it would not be- unless profit can come from making it available to public domain- which possible, but…]
But if NASA explores lunar polar region to determine if and where there is minable water- then after this, you will get lots of private space exploration- looking for other specific resource [which can used to mine stuff- it will not be public domain, but will not simply remain a secret, as once mining starts, everyone we know about it- information will be released to get investment dollar for specific projects [or as it is commonly done with all mining on Earth]].

Even the IPCC can only claim it is likely. To do that and rank the likelihood high they had to invent their own scale of confidence levels.
In 2012, after admitting there had been no warming over the 15 years from 1998 – 2012, they upped their confidence level from 90 to 95% that humans are likely causing the warming.
They just admitted there had been no warming for 15 years, would intelligent minds not revise the confidence level downward in lieu of that? Or did 15 years of no warming convince the IPCC gurus that it’s even more likely?
Two of the Coordinating Lead Authors in IPCC reviews were caught red-handed in the Climategate email scandal. Phil Jones admitted to using Manns cheating method of hiding declining temperatures and he was head of Had-crut at the time. Trenberth, of NCAR, admitted in private that global warming had stopped and lamented it as a travesty that no one knew why.
Lead Authors at IPCC reviews appoint the reviewers and Coordinating Lead Authors oversee the process. Jones, a CLA, was caught threatening to block papers from skeptics along with ‘Kevin’, who he named.
Apparently they did block the papers.
